Our Partners

Over the years, Nepal Trust has worked with many partners, as we believe it is vital to work with other organisations, Humli, Nepali and international, in order to gather together the right skills, expertise, opinions and approaches to the work we carry out.

We work with the following, amongst others:

Rotary

The Nepal Trust has enjoyed a long standing relationship with Rotary.  Rotary International, Rotary in Britain & Ireland, the Rotary of Nepal and the Rotary Foundation have provided the bulk of our funding since former RIBI President Neill Hill selected the Nepal Trust as his preferred charity in 1998.  More information about Rotary and the Nepal Trust.

The Nepalese Government, the Ministry of Health and in particular the District Health Office of Humla.

It is vital that we collaboratE, as well as plan for the future together, to make sure that what the Nepal Trust offers to Humla is going to be sustainable in the future, and does not undermine the work of the government services. The ultimate aim is that the Nepal Trust health services will be amalgamated into the Government ones, as and when the resources are sufficient to do so.

Nepal Institute of Development Studies (NIDS)

NIDS carries out a range of work in Nepal, including research, implementing programmes and networking, lobbying and advocating for equitable development strategies. Their programme in Humla - the Humla Development Initiative focuses on sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, strengthening civil society through advocacy and capacity building, as well as working with the most marginalised people of Humla. The Nepal Trust has worked with NIDS over several years. In particular, we intend to bring together our different areas of expertise of Health (NT) and Capacity building (NIDS), in efforts to begin re-building the damage done to both health facilities and to community participation and spirit over the conflict period.

David Hurman outside Cancer Hospital

Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital

We are fortunate to have Dr David Hurman as our Medical Director.  Dr Hurman was one of the founders of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital - a successful project which started from nothing in 1995, opened in 1999 and is in itself a good example of successful collaboration between Rotary International, Nepal Cancer Relief Society and the government of Nepal. David is therefore able to share with us his experience of working in the health field in both the UK and Nepal.

UNESCO

The Nepal Trust’s Eco-tourism and Trekking Promotion programme started with support from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in March 2002.

More information on that programme can be found here.
